Raleigh, N.C. (November 2011) – Business North Carolina, a statewide business magazine, has named three physicians with WHV- Wake Heart & Vascular to its 2012 Best Doctors list.
The three are Dr. J. Tift Mann of Raleigh, a founder of WHV; Dr. Eric M. Janis of Clayton, a founder of the group’s Smithfield and Clayton offices; and Dr. Benjamin G. Atkeson of Wendell, who also practices in the Johnston County offices.
They are listed in the magazine’s November edition.
Mann, who obtained his medical degree from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1969, is a pioneer in the use of a vein in the wrist for cardiac catheterizations, a procedure called transradial access. Besides his Raleigh practice, he travels the nation and internationally teaching doctors how to do the procedure. Transradial access results in fewer complications and quicker recovery for patients than traditional access areas.
Both Janis, a 1989 graduate of the medical school at Johns Hopkins University, and Atkeson, who obtained his medical degree from Georgetown University in 1996, are certified in nuclear cardiology.
WHV is North Carolina’s largest independent heart and cardiovascular care practice with 15 offices throughout Eastern North Carolina. Its doctors are pioneers in groundbreaking cardiac treatments in the state.
Business North Carolina annually recognizes best practitioners under an agreement with Best Doctors Inc., a Boston company founded by physicians affiliated with Harvard Medical School that provides expert medical consultation services.
Best Doctors itself was named this year to Inc. Magazine’s “Fastest-Growing Companies in America” list.
