RALEIGH, N.C. (February 3, 2012) – When most people think about someone having a heart attack, they envision a “pudgy, overweight, middle-aged man clutching his chest,” Dr. Eric M. Janis of WHV-Wake Heart & Vascular told NBC-17 viewers this morning. In fact, more women in the United States than men suffer sudden cardiac deaths.
Dr. Janis, a WHV-Wake Heart & Vascular cardiologist who practices in Smithfield and Clayton, appeared on the station’s morning news show to highlight National Go Red For Women Day, a campaign of the American Heart Association to help women and their physicians address this serious issue.
Dr. Janis explained why women are affected more and offered tips for prevention during his appearance. You can see the entire segment here.
